Quasi Robotics Inc. last week announced a major update to its Quasi Cloud Connect and Q.AI robot management software. The company said Cloud Connect 2.0 introduces new features and customization options.

These updates will give users of Quasi Robotics’ flagship Model C2 autonomous mobile robot (AMR) higher levels of control and flexibility over the material transport process.

“We’ve worked closely with leaders in life science, manufacturing, and healthcare to develop Cloud Connect 2.0,” stated Tom Dolan, sales director of Quasi Robotics. “These industries demand precise and adaptable automation, and this update allows users to tailor their C2 deliveries to their unique workflows and exact material transport processes.”

Founded in 2017, Quasi Robotics develops AMRs for materials handling and intralogistics transport. Its proprietary Q.AI software provides dynamic route planning, navigation, and obstacle avoidance. The company said it also offers quick deployment and an intuitive user interface.

Frederick, Md.-based Quasi said its robotics engineers are experienced in CAD/CAM design, electrical and mechanical engineering, additive manufacturing, material design, fabrication, and computer software.

Cloud Connect 2.0 includes new features

Cloud Connect 2.0 aims to empower users with fine-tuned control and customization. Quasi Robotics said it includes new capabilities such as Multi-Stop Routes to create complex, workflow-driven delivery paths and No-Go Zones to restrict navigation through user-designated map areas.

The new Q.AI also includes path-smoothing algorithms for sway-prevention at high speeds. In addition, the company said it has improved connectivity features to boost the safety and overall performance of the Model C2 during delivery.

Quasi has also redesigned Cloud Connect user portal and added “Waypoints” Mobile App for simplified control. It has improved Wi-Fi and mapping abilities, active international time zones, visual LED cues, customizable voice announcements. The company summarized its new features:

  • Multi-stop routes: Sequencing of Waypoints allows user creation of delivery routes with customizable stops, duration, and user-interface prompting.
  • No-go zones: User-defined virtual barriers restrict access through designated map areas.
  • New ROI calculator: Return on investment tracking and analysis tools can measure the financial impact of an automation investment.
  • CC user portal: Redesigned for simplified and intuitive control.
  • Waypoints mobile app: Enables one-touch remote calling.

Quasi Robotics also upgrades hardware

Quasi offers two robots, the Model C2, an autonomous delivery robot, and the Model R2, an autonomous mobile manipulator. The C2 features three tiers of shelving that can hold a total of 175 lb. (79.3 kg) and has a 16-hour battery life.

The R2 features a pick-and-place robotic arm with eight degrees of freedom and a 3.2 ft. (0.9 m) reach. In addition, the new Model C2 includes:

  • New AI Path Smoothing allows gradual movement leveling for reduced “wiggle” at higher speeds, gentler curves, and shorter travel distances between waypoints
  • Improved Wi-Fi connectivity dialogs and processes
  • Improved area mapping and localization procedures
  • International time zones are now supported
  • Visual LED lighting cues upon boot-up and shut-down process
  • Voice choices from six options for system/custom voice announcements

Quasi Robotics said it remains committed to driving AMR innovation. It asserted that the release of Cloud Connect and Q.AI 2.0 demonstrates its dedication to providing cutting-edge systems address the evolving needs of its customers.

Cloud Connect 2.0 Software Upgrade is available now at no cost to existing Model C2 and Model R2 customers.
