KSP Fulfillment yesterday announced its partnership with Peak Technologies LLC, a provider of digital supply chain and mobile workforce systems, and Locus Robotics, a provider of mobile robots for fulfillment warehouses.

Founded in 2012, KSP offers order fulfillment, kitting, and assembly for e-commerce and business to business (B2B). The third-party logistics provider (3PL) serves industries such as medical, health, education, agriculture, and pet care out of its warehouse in Brooklyn Park, Minn.

KSP uses velocity data to support the location of a SKU in the warehouse. It needed to place items that are ordered frequently in locations close to its fulfillment area.

The company wanted to automate the fulfillment processes in its warehouses to improve efficiencies and track inventory flow for its clients. KSP started its automation journey back in the summer of 2020.

KSP partners for end-to-end digitization

“As a solutions partner to KSP Fulfillment we are excited to integrate the Locus AMRs into their warehouse operations,” stated Tony Rivers, president and CEO of Peak Technologies. “Peak is thrilled to help streamline the order-fulfillment process and drive further innovation for KSP.”

Peak Technologies provides advanced technologies and supply chain automation for manufacturing, warehousing, and retail industries. The Linthicum Heights, Md.-based company said it empowers productivity with radio frequency identification (RFID), machine vision, robotics, and artificial intelligence.

Wilmington, Mass.-based Locus Robotics is a leading person-to-goods workflow automation provider. The 2024 RBR50 Robotics Innovation Award winner‘s clients achieved the milestone of more than 3 billion picks worldwide earlier this year.

Locus and Peak Technologies teamed up to track inventory and material flow through KSP’s fulfillment processes at its warehouse. Peak integrated Locus autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and software into KSP’s systems and helped it visualize the process.

The LocusBots will operate alongside human workers to pick and transport inventory and orders throughout KSP’s 225,000 sq. ft. (20,903 sq. m) fulfillment center, streamlining picking and replenishment operations to meet growing customer demand.

KSP has deployed 60 Locus AMRs, which began operations in its warehouse last month.

Locus fleet scales to meet demand

During the upcoming fall peak season, KSP said it will add 50 more LocusBots to take advantage of Locus’s ability to scale for anticipated growth. Locus Robotics said its robotics-as-a-service (RaaS) business model makes it easy for customers to handle seasonal demand.

“Locus’ cutting-edge robotics are revolutionizing warehouse fulfillment and distribution,” said Josh Haynes, senior vice president and general manager at KSP Fulfillment. “By augmenting our human workforce with LocusBots, we will unlock transformative gains in throughput, efficiency, and worker ergonomics – all while strengthening our commitment to world-class service for our customers.”

“We are thrilled to welcome KSP Fulfillment to the Locus family,” said Rick Faulk, CEO of Locus Robotics. “Our proven, flexible robotics automation solution will help KSP to drive productivity and efficiency to new heights, seamlessly growing as they scale their operations.”
