PChome Online Inc. has operated nonstop for 24 years and provides 24-hour delivery services throughout Taiwan. The Taipei-based company needed to keep up with e-commerce growth, so it turned to Geekplus Technology Co.
“To meet these demands, PChome outfitted its automated facility with the highest density of smart technology and automation equipment in the country,” said Geek+.
Beijing-based Geek+ has developed autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and software for order fulfilment. The company, which is a 2024 RBR50 Robotics Innovation Award winner for its PopPick system, said that it has more than 1,000 customers worldwide.
Last month, Geek+ surpassed 5 million picks with its goods-to-person (G2P) systems.
PChome automates for efficiency, sustainability
PChome has deployed hundreds of Geek+ Shelf-to-Person robots in its largest warehouse, replacing its person-to-goods picking operation. The robots shuttle full shelves of goods to picking workstations so that employees can pick from a single station rather than spend time and energy walking.
The system can flexibly adjust the number of robots according to logistics needs, helping PChome to handle the surge in orders during peak periods more efficiently, said Geek+. It added that the innovative automation is helping the e-commerce platform embrace the concept of “green shopping,” as the Linkou A7 Intelligent Logistics Park also works to reduce carbon emissions.
“Geek+ robots can operate in a dark warehouse, reducing energy consumption while maintaining the tight delivery timelines that have become PChome’s hallmark,” said Billy Siu, business development director for Taiwan at Geek+.
“Shelf-to-Person order-fulfilment robots also create a more sustainable environment for workers, enabling them to remain in one place while picking orders instead of walking miles and miles through warehouse aisles looking for goods.,” he added.
Geek+ robots improve warehouse efficiency
“The logistics park is equipped with AMR robots, shuttle rack systems, and automatic goods yards that are rarely seen in Taiwan to enhance shipping efficiency,” said Alice Chang, general manager and CEO of PChome Online. “Through cross-industry alliances with strategic partners, we optimize warehouse and logistics efficiency and strengthen the competitiveness of our e-commerce business. “
PChome reported that it has measured a 3x efficiency improvement with Geek+’s help. The company said its 1.6 million sq. ft. (148,645 sq. m) facility’s daily parcel-processing capacity has doubled to an estimated 200,000 orders during peak sales periods.
