Rapyuta Robotics Inc. has opened a demonstration space for its automated storage and retrieval system, or ASRS, in Schaumburg, Ill. The new space allows visitors to see the system for the first time in the U.S.; previously, demos took place in Japan.

Founded in 2014, Rapyuta Robotics is a spinoff of ETH Zurich. The Tokyo-based company said it is a market leader in pick-assist autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) in Japan.

It said the modular design of its ASRS makes it scalable and enables rapid implementation and advanced inventory management. This enables companies to maximize efficiency, reduce operating costs, and achieve flexibility throughout their operations.

Since its launch in 2023, the ASRS has received orders from more than four companies in Japan, and it entered the U.S. market in June 2024.

The company described features of its new demonstration space:

Live demo tour

Visitors will receive a guided tour of the system’s features, showcasing its dynamic performance. Beyond simple picking operations, they can see how the Rapyuta ASRS integrates with inventory management platforms and operational processes such as induction and picking.

The company said this will help participants understand how the system can enhance their workflow productivity.

Hands-on experience

Participants will have the opportunity to interact with the system, experiencing its intuitive interface and operational simplicity firsthand. They can also gain insights into how the ASRS optimizes picking operations, demonstrating its impact on throughput and efficiency.

These demonstrations are expected to last approximately one hour. After the demo, each company can discuss how it can deploy the ASRS in its warehouse environments and receive individual consultation on its goals.

Rapyuta welcomes visitors

The demonstration space is in Rapyuta Robotics’ U.S. headquarters, about a 20 minute drive from Chicago O’Hare International Airport and about 35 minutes from downtown Chicago. Detailed maps and access information can be found on the company’s website.

Demo space is available by appointment only, and Rapyuta offers each visiting company an exclusive session.
