Telefónica Tech, the digital business unit of Telefónica S.A., and Dexory, a provider of robotics and data intelligence today announced an alliance to promote automated warehouse management. The companies are participating in Advanced Factories, a European congress on industrial innovation this week in Barcelona, Spain.
The partners said they will combine their technological capabilities to digitally transform the logistics sector. They plan to offer a service that combines Telefónica Tech’s Internet of things (IoT) connectivity and its integration capabilities with Dexory’s DexoryView AI-powered digital twin platform.
“The alliance with Dexory allows us to strengthen our portfolio of digital services for the industrial sector, which plays a key role in the country’s competitiveness,” explained Alfredo Serret, global director for IoT at Telefónica Tech.
“This service, which combines Dexory’s robotic technology and AI with our IoT capabilities, will enable logistics, distribution, and manufacturing companies to simplify the warehouse inventory process by providing them with real-time visibility and accurate data,” he said.
London-based Telefónica Tech offers a wide range of services and technologies for cybersecurity, cloud, IoT, big data, artificial intelligence, and blockchain.
DexoryView connects with Telefónica Tech IoT
DexoryView uses autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) to gather vast amounts of data from warehouses. The robots use advanced optical cameras and lidar sensors. Dexory said these sensors allow its robots to measure distances and map spaces, and they are capable of scanning up to 10,000 locations per hour.
The DexoryView platform analyzes and visualizes the data gathered by the robots thanks to Telefónica Tech’s IoT connectivity. The companies said they can provide useful and accurate information about inventory accuracy, as well as make suggestions for optimizing the warehouse space.
Dexory said that warehouses that deploy its robots can capture data in real time on the status, volume, dimensions and location of items. The system uses identifiers and barcodes, noted the Wallingford, U.K.-based company.
In addition, because of its capabilities and specialization in the industrial sector, Telefónica Tech will integrate this service with customers’ warehouse management systems (WMS) to synchronize and manage all warehouse operations. It will track the location of materials, stock management, task and resource planning, goods in and out, demand planning, etc.
Telefónica Tech’s said leading analyst firms have recognized its IoT capabilities. Gartner Inc. has ranked Telefónica as a leader for the eleventh consecutive year for its managed services, which it offers through Telefónica Tech. Kaleido Intelligence has ranked Telefónica Tech first in the world.
Service offers control and optimized operations
“The launch of this service will revolutionize the daily activity of the logistics sector,” which” said Dexory. It added that companies can “move from having outdated inventory reports to automating the process to have total control of what happens in warehouses and be able to identify inefficiencies and optimize operations.”
By connecting the inventory robots, Dexory and Telefónica Tech said they will reduce inventory errors and provide companies with more accurate data on which to base better business decisions. They also promised to speed up the search for empty locations so that space can be managed more efficiently. This will also shorten the time taken to investigate and resolve problems such as the search for lost objects or the detection of erroneous product references.
The partners said their warehouse inventory automation service will help the sector to accurately forecast demand, stock, and capacity. They asserted that it can improve safety by delegating to robots many of the higher-risk tasks that employees previously performed.
Dexory looks to expand in Spanish market
“As in all areas of business, data is key to driving businesses forward,” stated Oana Jinga, co-founder and chief commercial and product officer of Dexory. “With DexoryView, warehouse operators and managers are able to tap into rich data that will help them strategically guide their businesses forward and unlock new opportunities for them.”
“Partnering with Telefonica Tech will allow Dexory to scale our solutions quickly in the Spanish market and unlock the power of real-time data in warehouses across the region,” she said.
Dexory offers robotics as a service (RaaS) to capture insights into all levels of warehouse operations using AMRs and AI. The company claimed that it can help companies boost their performance and unlock their full potential.
“Instant access to real-time data helps optimize the present, de-risk the future, and discover the intractable in each location and at every stage of the product journey through the warehouse and onto dispatch,” it said.
Introduced to the market in 2023, DexoryView combines robotics, digital twins, and AI to understand, analyze, and manage warehouse operations. Dexory said it offers “unprecedented time to value” for businesses to thrive in increasingly complex and competitive markets.
