TGW Logistics Group GmbH and OPEX Corp. announced yesterday that they have formed a strategic partnership to tap into new customer groups and markets in the U.S. and Europe.

As part of the collaboration, TGW said it is applying its decades of experience into further developing OPEX’s Infinity automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS). Infinity will also be implemented into LivePick, TGW’s new order-fulfillment system.

“OPEX is thrilled to be partnering with TGW Logistics to build upon our groundbreaking Infinity ASRS technology,” said Alex Stevens, president of warehouse automation at OPEX. “We have always admired TGW’s technology, experience, and quality – by combining that with our innovation and product experience, this partnership is sure to result in full solutions that will delight our customers.”

Founded in 1969, TGW Logistics is an intralogistics specialist based in Marchtrenk, Austria. The company has more than 4,400 employees and serves customers in the U.S. through its unit in Grand Rapids, Mich. These include Gap, Urban Outfitters, and Victoria’s Secret. TGW also recently announced a collaboration with the RovoFlex picking system.

Founded in 1975, OPEX develops advanced systems for warehouse, document, and mail automation. The family-run company is based in Moorestown, N.J., and employs over 1,500 people on five continents.

About the Infinity ASRS

OPEX first released Infinity in March 2022. The company emphasized the system’s flexibility and scalability in terms of throughput and storage capacity. It said this makes the ASRS suitable for small and medium-sized projects.

Infinity robots can move freely along both the vertical and horizontal axes, ensuring highly efficient use of the available space, according to OPEX. The company claimed that its system stands out from competing technology by providing up to 35% greater storage capacity within the same footprint, as well as up to 65% higher efficiency in terms of the routes the robot takes through the rack.

Earlier this year, OPEX named Trew as a new integration partner. The companies said that Trew will expand its portfolio with OPEX’s automation. OPEX’s Infinity ASRS, Sure Sort small-item robotic sorting system, and Perfect Pick goods-to-person systems will all be part of that partnership.

TGW Logistics and OPEX find common corporate values

OPEX and TGW Logistics both have 50 years of experience in the automotive industry, and the companies said they share values and a strong focus on corporate culture.

“We are very excited about our partnership with OPEX,” stated Christoph Wolkerstorfer, chief technology officer of TGW Logistics.

Common values and a strong focus on corporate culture brought us to this strategic milestone,” he added. “With our experience as a systems integrator, we will bring fresh momentum to the optimization and further development of Infinity as part of this collaboration.”
