This week, Gather AI announced its first dealer network partnership with Burwell Material Handling, which distribute Gather AI’s drone-based and material handling equipment, or MHE-based vision cameras to customers across its 20 U.S. locations.

“We’re always looking for solutions to help our customers better manage their warehouses and optimize order fulfillment,” stated Jeff Buyck, chief technology officer at Burwell Material Handling. “We chose to work with Gather AI, because together we can help our clients improve inventory accuracy, track damaged or expired inventory, and ultimately better serve their customers.”

Burwell Material Handling delivers systems across the entire material handling lifecycle. With nearly 80 years of experience, the company serves customers through 20 branches, offering equipment, rentals, parts and service, custom engineered systems, and connected fleet technologies. Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Burwell said it can help customers operate efficiently and grow with confidence.

Burwell Material Handling to offer visibility without added overhead

“Gather AI is committed to helping warehouses optimize their operations,” said Sankalp Arora, Ph.D., co-founder and CEO of Gather AI. “This partnership will help Burwell Material Handling expand their offerings to meet the needs of their customers and overall allow more companies access to our solution.”

Founded in 2017, Gather AI said its AI-enabled machine vision was developed at Carnegie Mellon University. The company claimed that it is differentiated from competitors because it scans much more than barcodes, including lot codes, text, expiration dates, case counts, damages, and occupancy.

Gather AI added that its software integrates with any hardware setup, so no infrastructure changes are necessary. It also asserted that its technology is adaptable across environments in cold storage (-20°F), dark warehouses and very narrow aisles.

The vision system does not require GPS or Wi-Fi, nor does it need racking or retrofits, according to Gather AI. The company said its customers have seen 70% improved inventory accuracy, 75% reduction in cycle-counting hours, 90% pallet emergencies reduced, and 5X increases in operational productivity.

Gather AI open to more partnerships

Gather AI explained that its system collects visual data from drones, forklifts, and connected machines. The system integrates with warehouse management systems (WMS) and cloud platforms and uses AI to identify issues and suggest next steps.

“The platform turns real-world warehouse activity into insight that helps teams meet deadlines, optimize plans, and stay in sync,” the company said. “Designed for flexibility and fast deployment, Gather AI supports smarter decision-making without disrupting operations.”

Gather AI noted that its system is currently deployed in warehouses across third-party logistics (3PL), retail, manufacturing, food and beverage, and air cargo at companies including GEODIS, Langham Logistics, NFI Industries, and Barrett Distribution.

While Burwell Material Handling can help end users add Gather AI’s systems to their operations, other MHE dealers interested in partnering with Gather AI can visit www.gather.ai/contact. The company launched its partner program in February.
