ORBIS Corp., a developer of reusable packaging, last week announced it now manufactures AutoStore-approved bins at a second strategic North American location in Greenville, Texas. The company currently manufactures bins in Toronto.
“As an approved AutoStore supplier, having a second designated location to manufacture bins marks an important step in expanding ORBIS’ role in the automation space of the reusable packaging industry,” stated Norm Kukuk, president of ORBIS. “This approval further reinforces ORBIS’ commitment to supporting advanced material handling solutions and helping customers drive efficiency, sustainability, and operational excellence.”
ORBIS is a subsidiary of Menasha Corp., which also includes Menasha Packaging Co. In 2024, the company opened its Greenville plant, which spans 420,000 sq. ft. (39,019.2 sq. m). Earlier this year, it expanded its manufacturing capabilities by acquiring Robinson Industries, which specializes in thermoforming.
ORBIS supports multiple workflows
ORBIS said its expertise in reusable packaging and plastic injection molding ensures that bins meet the stringent specifications required for automated material handling, delivering durability, precision, and long-term performance.
The Oconomowoc, Wis.-based company added that the milestone strengthens its ability to support the growing demand for high-performance automated systems across North America.
In addition to AutoStore bins, ORBIS supports broader operations with reusable pallets for shipments and totes for work-in-process workflows, covering more applications across facilities.
AutoStore expands its ASRS capabilities
Founded in 1996, AutoStore said it develops automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS) to help businesses improve order-fulfillment efficiency. The Nedre Vats, Norway-based company offers both hardware and software that it asserted is interoperable with other third-party technologies.
AutoStore said it has more than 1,900 systems in over 65 countries, as its community of employees, partners, customers, suppliers, and connected technologies continues to grow. Its U.S. headquarters are in Salem, N.H.
Earlier this year, the company introduced its CubeVerse platform and new artificial intelligence-driven capabilities. The platform provides new cloud software, AI-powered analytics, and robotic workflows for order preparation and system optimization.
With CubeVerse and AutoStore Intelligence, the company said it enables better, faster decisions across design, deployment, operations, and optimization. AutoStore designed these products to work alongside existing warehouse management systems (WMS) and warehouse execution systems (WES) rather than replace them.
Late last year, AutoStore also added new features to its ASRS. They included AutoCase, which automates the movement of full cases in and out of storage. The company also introduced FlexBins, allowing multiple bin sizes in one grid to expand SKU assortment, increase density, and support consolidation and buffering.
Other new features included the Frozen-Only Grid and CarouselAI enhancements, as well as features to ease implementation and reduce ownership costs, including fire standards, floor flatness mitigation, and CubeDeploy.
