Kardex yesterday launched the Kardex SnapVac, a semi-automated cleaning robot designed specifically for AutoStore Red Line systems.

The company said it engineered SnapVac to eliminate dust and debris buildup from the top of the AutoStore grid without interrupting operations. By doing this, it can help operators reduce downtime, extend robot lifespan, and ensure clean, safe, and high-performing systems.

“With Kardex SnapVac, we’re delivering a smarter, safer, and more efficient way to maintain grid hygiene,” said Mitch Hayes, president of Kardex Solutions – North America. “It’s a simple upgrade that delivers big results in uptime, compliance, and peace of mind.”

The global AutoStore partner supplies automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS), integrated material handling systems, small parts storage systems, and automated high-bay warehouses.

SnapVac keeps grids clean without interruption

Even in the cleanest, best-maintained warehouse environments, dust and debris are inevitable, noted Kardex. Particles can accumulate quickly and silently, even with routine care. Over time, this buildup can impact robot performance and contaminate bins. That’s why regular, intentional cleaning is essential, the company said.

Kardex said SnapVac is compatible with AutoStore R5, R5+, and R5 Pro robots. The system features a low-profile bristle tube that captures up to 80% of dust and debris while navigating the grid. It offers up to four hours of runtime, with real-time visibility through AutoStore’s ServiceConsole.

The company listed potential benefits of the Kardex SnapVac (KSV):

  • No downtime required: KSV cleans while the ASRS continues operating.
  • Hands-off automation: It can reduce manual labor and eliminate the need for human grid access.
  • Predictive maintenance-ready: Cleaning data is tracked and visualized to support proactive system upkeep.
  • Plug-and-play deployment: Kardex said no reconfiguration or retraining is needed.

The company is offering a limited number of SnapVac units with a two-year extended warranty and spare parts kit — exclusively to customers who pre-order before Aug. 1.
