Rising warehouse space costs, complex brownfield environments, and the need for greater storage density are driving demand for automated pallet systems. Movu Robotics this month said that Jungheinrich will be the preferred integrator for its shuttles.
Movu has also become a preferred supplier for Jungheinrich. The companies said they can jointly realize highly automated pallet systems for customers even faster and more efficiently. Four-way shuttle systems such as Movu’s Atlas can store and retrieve pallets from multi-deep storage.
“Four-way shuttle systems increasingly combine high-density storage with other functionalities like replenishing picking processes and sequencing goods for dispatch just in time, all within the same footprint,” stated Noë van Bergen, chief strategy officer of Movu Robotics. “With this strategic partnership, we combine Movu’s innovative shuttle technology, its racking manufacturing capabilities as part of stow Group, and Jungheinrich’s integration, software and service expertise.”
“Together, we make high-density automated warehousing easier to implement, more flexible to design, and more scalable for future growth,” he added. “End-users benefit from Jungheinrich’s comprehensive solution portfolio, from manual to fully automated solutions that grow with their requirements.”
Partnership to make it easier to integrate complete systems
Movu Robotics and Jungheinrich said their partnership makes shuttle warehouses faster to plan, easier to integrate, and more efficient to operate. The companies are integrate Movu’s four-way shuttles directly into the Jungheinrich warehouse management (WMS) and software ecosystem, which centrally manages inventory and optimizes storage and retrieval.
Standardized software interfaces will shorten commissioning and connection to existing systems, while joint solution design deepens and speeds up quotation, said Movu. Coordinated service processes also ensure reliable operation throughout the entire life cycle, asserted the Lokeren, Belgium-based company.
With the integration, customers benefit from a seamless material flow, from goods-in through the shuttle warehouse to dispatch, the partners claimed. Shuttle systems, conveyor technology, and mobile robots are orchestrated through an integrated Jungheinrich software stack providing full visibility, reduced complexity, and a scalable foundation for future growth.
The two companies said they will align solution design, interfaces, and service processes even more closely. Hamburg, Germany-based Jungheinrich said this will strengthen its position as a global system integrator that combines warehouse automation, software, and services into an overall system that grows with its customers’ requirements.
Movu shuttle systems help centralize storage
Movu Robotics’ shuttle systems are already trusted by over 200 warehouses and in use in numerous Jungheinrich customer projects across Europe and North America. At Coppenrath & Wiese, for example, an automated warehouse for packaging materials is currently being built, bringing previously decentralized storage capacities together in a single facility.
At Mascot online in Almere, the Netherlands, an automated pallet warehouse with around 11,500 pallet locations is under construction. Ten Movu four-way shuttles will ensure high storage density and fast provision of products.
Movu said the warehouse will support the growth of a rapidly expanding retail company and forms the first stage of a multi-phase expansion of its logistics processes.
